Dana Al-Eithan: From Al-Ahsa to ISEF 2022
One of the judges described her as "If chemistry were a person, it would be Dana Al-Eithan." With profound humility, refined manners, and great ambition, she says, "True science is diving deeper into knowledge; the more you learn, the more you realize you need to learn. I am still a student learning, and my ambition is to become a pioneer in the field of chemistry."
Dana Al-Eithan achieved first place globally in chemistry at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2022 for her project titled "Selective Hydrogen Production from Formic Acid Using a Ruthenium Catalyst."
About the award, Al-Eithan says, "The award is the cherry on top of the cake; the cake is the experience we had over 12 months working on the project for this competition. Competing globally with 2,000 students from over 70 countries for an entire week was not easy. But with God’s grace, challenges were overcome, and praise be to God for achieving first place."
Dana Al-Eithan, the talented student, did not just win an award but also won people’s admiration for her ethics, manners, culture, and humility.
Dana Al-Eithan’s Experience at Fab Lab Al-Ahsa
As a digital manufacturing hub offering technological, training, and advisory services in digital manufacturing and innovation, Dana was one of the trainees in the Innovators Camp 2019. She benefited from learning modeling techniques and the steps of innovation. She also utilized Fab Lab Al-Ahsa’s services to advance her project by creating a simple model to present to the judges. Additionally, she used 3D printing to produce simple project models as gifts.
