Announcing the results of the Al-Ahsa Square competition
In a ceremony held at the Foundation's headquarters, the Abdulmonem Al-Rashed Humanitarian Foundation and the Al-Ahsa Municipality announced the final results of the Al-Ahsa Square competition. The first place was won by the Engineer Abdulaziz Hassan Al Toti. while the university administration at King Faisal University came in second place. The third place went to Engineer Suhaib Abdullah Al-Jafar.
The winning designs were selected after evaluating 70 submitted works; these works were submitted by individuals and various academic institutions in Al-Ahsa.
After excluding designs that did not meet the required criteria, the participating designs were sorted into 60 designs. Of these 60 works, the top 10 works were filtered and judged by a jury formed from the executive management team in the Abdulmonem Al-Rashed Humanitarian Foundation, the Council of Engineers in Al-Ahsa, and the public votes.
In its evaluation, the committee relied on a set of criteria that were announced immediately after launching the competition on August 23. Some of the most important conditions were that the design should be relevant to the directions of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the originality of the design, its modernity, its feasibility, and the clarity of the design in terms of the title and the idea.
Mr. Mashari Al-Sweigh, the coordinator of the initiative, stated that the competition came as a harvest of the fruit of the partnership between the Abdulmonem Al-Rashed Humanitarian Foundation and the Al-Ahsa Municipality; Al-Ahsa therefore is proved to be a governate which is creative in all respects of life and that it is full of many creative people, artists, and designers who spare no effort in serving their community. Mr. Mashari Al-Sweigh praised the constructive role of the Al-Ahsa Municipality represented by its Secretary, the Projects Agency, and the Administration of its Social Responsibility Department.
It is worth noting that Al-Ahsa Square competition aims at encouraging creative people to participate in submitting designs for places in Al-Ahsa; this can contribute to beautifying the Al-Ahsa governorate, and in motivating interested specialists to implement their ideas. This can also raise the level of community members' interaction so that they communicate and participate in Al-Ahsa projects.
